Alejandro Fernandez’s concert in Tijuana will be the event to mark the beginning of a new era for the Tijuana River. The concert, scheduled for July 31st, will take place at the area between the Independencia bridge and the foot traffic bridge of the Plaza Rio.
This event will be completely free, and those interested in attending should go to the Tijuana Municipal Palace (or any of the nine municipal delegations), to request a free arm band that will serve as the entrance ticket for the concert. If you can’t make it to these locations, you may want to take advantage of the paid tickets option, which will have a price of $1,000 to $2,000 (Mexican pesos), and that will give you access to the VIP section. The money collected from the sale of the VIP tickets will be donated to the DIF in Tijuana.
Numerous improvements (which are supposed to be permanent) have been made to the Tijuana River to have it ready for the Alejandro Fernandez concert, such as canalization works to the river base. In addition, a sports center and a bicycle road will be built on the canal area. It is expected the river to serve as location to numerous other concerts to come.
